Should Wikipedia be forbidden in students Social Studies research?

Should Wikipedia be forbidden in students Social Studies research? P.344

I think that Wikipedia should not be forbidden, but instead, not allowed to reference. I think Wikipedia is a great place to start to gain some easy and simple knowledge on the subject you are researching.

If students are doing a project, they need to reference dictionaries, encyclopedias, and books about the subject. Seeing as how anyone can change the information on wiki, makes it unreliable to cite. I mean following Tim Howard’s brilliant performance against Belgium, someone briefly changed the Wikipedia entry for Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, to him and it was brilliant!

There are plenty of articles on Wikipedia, which is why it is always a great place to start. But before you argue those facts, or cite them, make sure they are correct.
